BRO.D.LEO, FOUNDER -ASSISI APOSTOLIC FAMILY

THE LORD HAS CALLED US TO BE A NEW KIND OF FOOL IN THIS PLACE - ST.FRANCIS OF ASSISI

Assisi Apostolic Family founded in 2002 by Bro.D.Leo, an engineer by profession, was introduced into the Catholic Church with the intention of bringing all people together as one family under the one Father our Lord Jesus Christ. Several dedicated members inspired by the Holy Spirit came forward to live the basic Christian (Apostolic) life according to the teachings of the seraphic father St.Francis of Assisi and St. Clare, in union with our Lord, Jesus Christ (Jn 15:4), so as to yield abundant fruits in the vineyard of God. The concept of Assisi Apostolic family (semi-ascetic) life in the way of St. Francis of Assisi (its Patron Saint) was given by Our Lord to Bro.D.Leo in the year 1994 and this apostolic way of life emerged in the year 2002 in Assisi Garden, Pudupakkam, Chenglepet Dist, Tamilnadu, with 7 other families from different walks of life coming together to live this apostolic concept of “One Father, One Family”, “One Shepherd One Folk”.

ABOUT FOUNDER - BRO.D.LEO
Our Founder Bro. D. Leo is an inspiration to all, blessed with a journey of transformation that truly inspires us to follow our calling. Bro.D. Leo, was born on 5th March 1941 in Sivagangai., TamilNadu, India. This place has a special significance because St.John De Britto was martyred in Oriyur near Sivagangai. Bro.D.Leo was a successful mechanical engineer, living the life that many of us dream of having. As a manager in Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Ranipet, which is a government company, Br.Leo led a very luxurious and extravagant life. In 1967, he got married to Euphresia Josephine who hailed from a very pious and influential family. They have 3 children (one son and two daughters). However, Bro.Leo knew that there was something more to life, something deeper. In 1987, he was moved by the extraordinary love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and felt a deep thirst for spiritual fulfillment. Through prayer, penance, and fasting, he sought the guidance of God and started preaching the Good News in many places. Astounding miracles happened through his unwavering devotion and the hand of the Lord was evident in his ministry. Bro. Leo loved nature because it was a manifestation of the beauty of God and following the footsteps of St.Francis of Assisi, he did not harm any creature and stopped eating meat completely. Today, the legacy of our Founder lives on, and the Assisi Apostolic Family continues to inspire countless people to experience the abundant grace and blessings of our God. Let us all be inspired by Bro. Leo's dedication to a life of purpose and join him on this journey towards enlightenment.
CONCEPTION OF ASSISI APOSTOLIC FAMILY
Brother Leo's divine vision in 1994 marked the start of an incredible journey towards a semi-ascetic apostolic way of life, inspired by the path of St. Francis of Assisi. His wholehearted and unwavering commitment to this journey led to the formation of the Assisi Apostolic Family. Following the guidance of the Holy Spirit, in 2004, seven other families also embarked on this journey along with Bro.D.Leo and his family. As they continued down this path, their dedication and perseverance led to the establishment of the Assisi Apostolic Garden situated in Pudupakkam, Near Kelambakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Now, the Assisi Apostolic Family and its related Ministries stand as a testament to the power of faith, community, and unwavering determination.
INAUGURATION
With immense pride, we share that the Assisi Apostolic Home was blessed and dedicated to the Assisi Apostolic Family on 4th October 2002, the Feast day of St. Francis of Assisi. It was a momentous occasion when the then Auxiliary Bishop of Madras-Mylapore Archdiocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Lawrence Pius, graced the event. Over the years, Assisi Apostolic Family has been fortunate to receive blessings, masses, prayers and guidance from various Bishops, Fathers and Sisters who have visited the Assisi Garden. The high esteem we hold in the eyes of Most Rev. Dr. A. Neethinathan, Bishop of Chingleput, who has approved Assisi Apostolic Family and its way of life, fills us with great confidence and joy. We work in close collaboration with Kelambakkam Parish and Divine Mercy Church to continue our noble mission.
